This is my first collection of compositions and improvisations for solo 5 string bass guitar.

These songs were conceived of during my father's illness and in the year after his death. I hadn't intended it to be about that experience but that seems to be what I was dealing with at the time I made this music. This is the most personal music I feel that I have ever made - it's about love, grief, anger, joy, gratitude and in the end being a human being.

All of this music was written on the bass and utilizes some pre-recorded sounds, loops and sound manipulation done in real time as well as lots of me playing.

This is dedicated to my father Jerry Granelli

J. Anthony Granelli is a native of northern California. Granelli received a BFA from California Institute of the Arts in 1991 and in 2006, a Masters Degree in Jazz Composition from New York University.
